One of the best perks of living in the capital city of Edmonton is the awesome concerts so close to home! Although the summer festival season has passed, there are still great concerts indoors during winter! I’ve made a list of three that seem particularly cool, one country and two for the more alternative taste. If country isn’t your style and you’re more of a “Sonic Boom” person then a “Big Valley Jamboree” person, you might enjoy the last two concerts listed. For all three concerts, tickets are around 40$ and can be purchased at ticketmaster.ca.
1) On January 14th, Tim Hicks and Chad Brownlee are coming to Edmonton. It gets better- the concert will take place at West Edmonton Mall Waterpark! This concert is the perfect opportunity dance to some country music while wearing a swimsuit in the middle of winter. Where else in the world can you do that?!
2) Everyone at Sonic Boom, including myself, loved the Arkells. The energy was so incredible during their set! They recently released an album called “Morning Report,” featuring the single “Private School.” This Canadian Band is bringing Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls with them to the Shaw Conference Centre on February 3rd.
3) On March 31, the Lumineers are coming to Rogers Place! The Lumineers also performed at Sonic Boom; the performance was completely mesmerizing. This concert is probably not going to be as hype as the other two. The Lumineers sound amazing live, it’ll be an unforgettable night at Roger’s Place.
