Sound the alarm! Starting next year, we’ll be able to experience seafood the Forrest Gump way as Edmonton gets its own Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurant. Aw yeah!
The iconic American shrimp franchise, inspired by the equally iconic film Forrest Gump, is beginning a foray into the Canadian market, with Edmonton the first location. The restaurant is opening up in West Edmonton Mall, replacing the former Eddie Bauer location and adjacently located by the Fantasyland Hotel and the Scotiabank Theatre. Retail Insider reveals West Edmonton Mall was chosen after seeing just how well Bubba Gump was doing in Minneapolis’ Mall of America, owned and operated by WEM’s Triple Five Group.
If you’ve no clue what Bubba Gump is, here’s a brief primer: all shrimp everything. It’s a Southern seafood extravaganza that needs to be experienced.
There’s plenty of movie memorabilia and you can even get the attention of waiters with a ‘Stop, Forrest, Stop’ sign. When was the last time you had service like that in a restaurant?
The restaurant chain is globally successful, sporting 43 locations in places like the United States, Japan, Mexico, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines and the United Kingdom. So get ready to make up for lost time by checking out their mouth-watering menus. Or you could just watch Forrest Gump. Bubba Gump is scheduled to open March 1, 2018 so you’ve got plenty of time to get acquainted with just how good shrimp can be.
Now repeat after me…Shrimp is the fruit of the sea…You can BBQ it, broil it, bake it, steam it, stuff it…
